Port Nelson

The Port Nelson area is situated just below the Port Hills. The main residential areas consist of those bordering on Haven Rd and just around onto the coastal side, where there has been a large increase in the number of apartments built over recent years to take advantage of some of Nelson’s best sea views. These apartments are mainly scattered along the area just across the sea, on Wakefield Quay.

Port Nelson Shopping:

At the intersection of Haven Rd & Russell St there is a neighbourhood dairy, a fish & chip shop, butchery and a cafe.

Central Nelson with its wealth of shops is less than a kilometre away, along Haven Rd.

Transport:

One of Nelson’s main regular scheduled bus routes runs alongside the coastal route seaside on Rocks Rd.

It continues on through Wakefield Quay below Stepneyville and around the point into Haven Rd and onto town.
