Since the days of film, I’ve always had an interest in aerial photos……

Flying above on an Air New Zealand jet recently, a keen Kiwi photographer snapped this shot, and then posted it on Twitter.

Perfectly showing Tasman Bay out in front of Nelson, Mapua and Motueka, its obviously not too hard from this photo to see how “protected” we are living here.

The photo was taken by a Gavin Bennett (Twitter @gavinbennett), and his above comment – well the old Mastercard TV commercial springs to mind…….”priceless!”

Centre left over the water from the top photo is a dark expanse, in the photo that’s all the pine trees growing on Rabbit Island, a summer favourite picnic spot for Nelsonians.

To offer up some perspective, above Google Earth graphic depicts a “sort-of” location approximation of the top photo.
