Technology, cameras, HD video, GPS, remote control UAV flying, who wouldn’t want to combine them all?
This post chronicles an experience lately of some real coincidental events…..and some good news. The good news part……

Great news now to see that others can now envisage the many uses such a flying machine unit allows, and for the operators, some recognition for the capital investment made.
Airborne and Operational - Nelson Feb 2010
This past week comes news of the launch of a BRAND NEW blog sponsored by our local newspaper, the Nelson Mail, on their website. (recently voted in 2010 one of NZ’s best Newspapers)
The Nelson Mail have covered this UAV machine before (actually it was on the front page of the newspaper) but this new blog, well…..should surely open even more eyes.
The X6 will now surely get a band of merry followers extra keen to see your next photo “from high” of our sunshine capital of New Zealand.

Lots of hard work goes into demonstrating the new technology, and other new associated technology that can now be utilised in tandem with this new type of imagery. For home sellers…anyone really preparing a home for sale in the Nelson / Tasman region, especially a “hard to see the whole home/property” at ground level one, then this should surely be one of the first things they ask their agent to include on their checklist.

Regular readers here will recognise Craigs name from some of my past posts…………and there’s a reason for that.

This story presents a personal connection here. See, some time back….along with a Vancouver based partner, and a very good contact in Sydney an opportunity presented itself to invest a sum to import into NZ some radio controlled helicopters predominately for overhead/aerial photography work………..but the 3 of us then got involved in a serious & timely debate about ROI and location.

A debate about whether it would launch just as well in Sydney, as in would in Nelson, NZ and therefore…..where to start first. As most everyone knows….sometimes long-range debates take a while…..sometimes too long. And as it was just as a related sideline to Real Estate, perhaps I didn’t give it the attention it may have required.

A week or so later, I’m in town and bump into Craig.
The reason/place we bump into each other was initiated by a conversation about technology……….which of the latest mobile phones/plans I should buy/commit to today with my upgrade due imminently, so the meeting started out originally with nothing to do about the photography topic.

Anyway………low and behold “somehow” our discussion encapsulates what we have been up to over the previous 3 months since we’ve seen each other last.

The hint comes that he’d been keen for a while to re-explore an interest of his….photography…..but also at the same time, an opportunity had presented itself that would mean he could combine another just as serious past hobby of his, RC flying ……and…….the conversation drifted to real estate.

Then he informs me that hes already paid a good sized USD$ sum to a company in North America that is going to provide him with all the latest gear for a new aerial photography platform/solution for the Top of the South initially, but other parts of NZ as the demand increases…..and one that would be very relevant to real estate.

Around about here “I’m thinking”…hmmm this is starting to sound very very familiar.
I ask Craig….from a technology perspective – to describe the sort of equipment he was thinking of importing.

Long story short…..we were both on the same page….the same technology….the same idea….the same market…..the same product….exactly the same from the same manufacturer?
Amusingly enough, neither of us knew. So yes folks there definitely is such a thing as a coincidence!
