Its NZ’s 2nd most popular sport, property watching, so no wonder when national body, Quotable Value NZ release their figures showing who the top 10 best performers are, that everyones eyes and ears prick up.
They also mentioned the ten least performing territorial authorities too.
The above chart is shown in terms of “Since the Peak”….and that means these are the change in price figures the relevant NZ councils are seeing since the so called “market peak.”
That actual peak differs considerably between the areas, but is generally accepted as being from late 2007 through to early 2008.
QV’s tracking shows our local government area, Nelson City down at 6th, with neighbouring Tasman District at no. 3.
In their associated Press Release QV comment….
At the other end of the scale, there are a number of Territorial Authorities where values have continued to drop from the peak, with little or no recovery in 2009.
In mentioning our area they [QV] said
The provincial centres of New Plymouth and Nelson took spots 5 and 6, with both dropping relatively little from the peak and since recovering well.
The more rural areas of Tasman, Waimakariri and Selwyn filled out the rest of the top 10 and showed a similar pattern of modest drop from peak with a solid recovery since.
