Forbes magazine in the USA has conducted & amalgamated some recent surveys. to come up with where the worlds people see themselves.
How did they do it?
I’ll let Forbes explain here from their July 2010 article.
Quantifying happiness isn’t an easy task. Researchers at the Gallup World Poll went about it by surveying thousands of respondents in 155 countries, between 2005 and 2009, in order to measure two types of well-being.
The envelope please……. to the results.
Above chart uses source data from forbes.com but was compiled by mibazaar.com. Full screen sized chart is also viewable here http://mibazaar.com/happiestcountries.html.
You may have noticed that there are quite a few different happiness scales out there,
while some other ones show NZ rating even higher (1st chart we’re 6th, second chart we’re 2nd) ……..I’m sure there will probably be others that place us lower…..but I think it tends to suggest an overall consensus that NZ is quite highly placed in that top quadrant.
