Local tradesmen shine in National awards.
In case you missed it the Placemakers House of the Year 2009 Awards were handed out in Auckland last weekend. Although the winning home mentioned here was in Auckland, Nelson did receive two notable NZ overall Category wins.
Local company Tasman Holdings won Gold in the best new home construction under $250,000 category while another Nelson company, Ezebuild won the 2009 Most Expensive Renovation category for projects over $500,000.
Both are in, and of themselves pointers to our makeup here in Nelson.
On the one hand the new 2 bedroom 2 bathroom townhouse in the Nelson suburb of “The Wood” demonstrates best practice is alive and kicking even in a smaller provincial town.
Whilst at the other end of the scale, the renovation of a ex US businessman, Alan Trents home at Venice Cove, showcased the skills of local resources, builders and craftsman just as adequately.
So overall if you were looking to join those 27 folk who brought sections in Nelson last month, then you can rest assured that our standard of new home construction or the renovating of an existing dwelling, is right up there with our big city cousins.
