April Sales Improve

Sales recorded for April rose 15% over the previous month. There were 39 sales for Gisborne reported. While this is a relatively low volume compared with previous years, it is heartening to see an increase in activity. Having spoken with colleagues around the country, we are faring better than some other regions. It’s important to keep this in mind when reading national news, as Gisborne doesn’t seem to suffer the highs and lows that larger communities tend to experience. It seems that our insulated market is not effected as much by the same volatile factors.  As always there are genuine reasons for folk to buy and sell real estate. Other key market indicators have fluctuated as expected when the data collected is low volume. The trend for monthly medians is seeing an easing in market values. But the three monthly stats in the first quarter show values as remaining flat.
