Choose Appropriately

I am often asked by home owners, what level of quality they should go to when upgrading their property.

Firstly I ask, is it for your own use and enjoyment for say 5 – 10 years, or is it to present for sale? Go to a higher level of quality for your own use and enjoyment.

Secondly, don’t do Rolls Royce improvements to a Morris Minor, and don’t do Morris Minor improvements to a Rolls Royce.

If you are upgrading for sale purposes, address anything serious like rotten timber, faulty foundations, leaking roof etc first, then pay attention to first impressions, and cheaper easier upgrade projects, and don’t spend too much. It is unlikely to be worth starting a large new project such as a bedroom addition.

A partial kitchen makeover with new cupboard and drawer fronts, and maybe a new bench top might be a prudent investment, and similarly a new shower and vanity in the bathroom.

I am happy to advise you on your specific situation.

Kind regards
