The website www.realestate.co.nz produces some excellent and very interesting information, by region. Our Manawatu/Wanganui Region has enough houses listed on the market for sale to last 34 weeks (assuming no more get listed). This is less than the long term average of 40 weeks. This means that it is a better than average time to sell. Compare our region with Auckland at 17 weeks, Canterbury and Wellington at 20 weeks, Northland at 100 weeks, Coromandel at 121 weeks, Bay of Plenty at 48 weeks, Wairarapa at 89 weeks, Hawkes Bay 34 weeks, Taranaki 30 weeks, Waikato 35 weeks, Otago 28 weeks, Southland 34 weeks, Nelson 26 weeks, Central Otago/Lakes 77 weeks, Marlborough 44 weeks, and West Coast at 115 weeks.
Another figure is the Property Asking Price by Region in comparison with the previous month. Our Manawatu/Wanganui Region showed the greatest reduction in asking price, down to $249,909. This was the 2nd to lowest regional asking price with Southland on $233,174. Auckland sits at $574,798, Northland at $394,032, Bay of Plenty $405,206, Hawkes Bay $355,706, Taranaki $300,128, Waikato $354,417, Wellington $447,388, Canterbury $381,345, Otago $265,141, Marlborough $369,091, Central Otago/Lakes $526,147, West Coast $305,559, and Nelson $455,705. This means that our region is very affordable.
