More Market Action!

The volume of house sales increased 62% from November to December in Feilding. This was good news for a month that is cut short with Christmas. The December volume is still below a long term monthly average though. Our median sales price calculated over 3 months sits at $229,000 which is unchanged since November. This compares to Palmerston North at $270,000, Levin at $190,000, Pahiatua at $137,000 and Wanganui at $164,000.

Feilding certainly benefits from being part of the Palmerston North/Manawatu market compared to Levin, Wanganui and Pahiatua. Feilding has also become a lot more attractive as a place to live as a result of prudent investment by Council and initiatives from Feilding Promotion and others. This work has helped house prices, and will likely improve them further as more investment takes place, and the market improves.

There were more house sales in Feilding in 2011 than 2010 which was the worst year in recent memory, and slightly more than in 2008 which was when the market crashed. The volume was the same as in 2000, and 77% of the average over the last 13 years.
