I completely agree with you Kerry and maybe at least one person will learn not to rush a listing now that they know a little bit more about the process.

Hi Steve,

What you need to remember is that a lot of people do not even browse the website, they sign up to receive saved searches and are notified by email of new properties the day they appear on the site.

Therefore, that is the one chance you have to grab their attention and using a poor quality photo is not going to do that. Nobody is going to think "perhaps the salesperson was in a rush that day so I'll just check back in a few days or a week to see if they've updated the pictures".

If you are providing a professional service that should extent to every aspect of the job. What is the point of rushing to put the listing on when nobody is going to look at it and you have wasted your chance to make an impression? Would it not be much better to wait till you can take some quality photos and then add the listing. That way it will have the greatest impact, which is surely what both vendor and salesperson are hoping to achieve.

Also, I think that every salesperson should have their own camera given how affordable digital cameras are these days and how important internet advertising is.

I know that you are knocking bad photos and rightly so, but some offices insist that you cannot list a house without a photo. Because of this an agent may take a few quick shots to get the listing on the system intending to get some more professional photos later when no kids, dogs, husbands, toys, clothes, washing up, etc are hanging about.

Just occassionaly though you can arrive to start the open home and it still looks the same.

Remember also that not all agents have got a camera and have to borrow the office one, so a phone photo is the only way to get it listed.

P.S I have my own camera and take a few shots initially to get it on the system trying to avoid any household debris as listed above and take better pictures at the first open home to appear in the first colour adverts the following week.
Everything in life and real estate is not always as you would like.
