Thanks to our local business association the council have renewed our footpaths and drainage on Tamaki Drive. If you havent visted Mission bay recently it’s time to come down for a coffee or bring the family for Dinner and a movie. We are still the entertainment capitol of the Eastern Bays and the waterfront from Mission Bay right through to St Heliers is still the best seaside walk in Auckland even in Winter.

Barfoot & Thompson are a family company and as such it seemed a natural fit for the Mission Bay Branch to get involved with the Kohimarama Swim Races on Thursday evenings across the summer of 2010 – 2011. Our job is to provide a hot sausage in bread with a squirt of tomato sauce to warm up the swimmers as they emerged from the water. As a team we have thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to meet this hardy breed of ocean swimmers who don their black wetsuits oblivious to weather and hit the water to race round the orange buoys like a school of manic fish. We are amazed at the wide spectrum of age from Grannies and Granddads to young boys and girls most for the pure enjoyment of being out there to complete their individual goals of swimming between 500metres and 2 kilometres then queuing like hungry penguins to share a snarler and a smile at the end of it. We have got to know the regulars who say they appreciate us being there and we look forward to meeting them each Thursday.
Although our regular job is to help people sell and buy houses in this slice of paradise we call the Eastern Bays the decision to be part of the Kohi Swim Races has given us the opportunity to get involved with the local community and meet a great bunch of people enjoying one of the most picturesque waterfront locations in The World. This is a seriously fun activity so why not bring the family down to catch the action and have a sausage and say hi to our team, even if you aren’t swimming we will accept a gold coin donation for the sausage with the proceeds going to Starship. We are easy to find just follow your nostrils to the Barfoot & Thompson Mission Bay BBQ stand where my team are resplendent in their Auckland rugby jerseys. See you there
