Welcome to the First Edition of Country Comment!

For me, this blogging experience is a bit like giving birth … a long time thinking about it, a few hours of huffing and puffing and wondering how anyone could get into this position … and then … Yehaa! Look at what we’ve produced!

Seriously though folks, the intention is to bring you comment from my area – rural South Auckland. I’d like to keep you up to date with what is happening, both in real estate, and in the local community.

There’ll be some of you who are interested in the mechanics of living in the country – things like “Do I really need to know a lot about animals” (the answer is “No” – there’ll always be a friendly someone with the knowledge, and happy to share it. You’ll find them in the car park of the local school, or at the Rugby Club, or the Golf Club, or even just passing your gate on their daily walk). If you don’t feel confident enough to even ask the question, there’s always a fabulous book (by Trish Fisk) that covers just about anything from extracting a stuck lamb, to times of year to spray your fruit trees.

Others may want to know where they can shop for their groceries, or birthday gifts, or renovation materials and power tools! Or even for a special outfit for a wedding or big celebration.

Please don’t think of this as a one-way conversation with “me talking, you listening” –let’s get the dialogue going.

Your feedback will help me provide you with the information you want or need.
