To beat the competition, you need to Impress 2 SELL!

As a real estate agent, I am looking at houses on a daily basis and the ones that stick in my mind are the ones that have that homely “feel” to them.  At least once a week I go home to report to my husband about this “gorgeous house I saw today, I should take you to have a look” – if he wasn’t so sensible we’d be moving A LOT!

So if you are selling your home, how do you create that “feel” that will make your house stand out from the competition, ensuring buyers fall in love with your house and visualise themselves as the proud new owners of it?  Home Staging has become extremely popular over the last year with businesses dedicated to presenting your house for sale sprouting up all over the country.  I refer a lot of my clients to Impress2Sell where Nikki and John offer services ranging from a full home stage using their furniture to styling of your home using your existing furniture (often this can mean de-cluttering, moving furniture and artwork to maximise space) .  As they say, “when your house is on the market, you must think of it as a product on a shelf – in order for it to sell it must stand out.” Given the volume of houses currently on the market, my advise is to ensure your house is presented to its very best potential.

Excellent advice and referral, I have had a look at their site and love the images – it provides great inspiration for people looking to sell their home.

I also love the phrase you use above “buyers..visualise themselves as the proud new owners of it” – this is classic marketing and the power of appealing to the “hearts” of buyers.

In many cases the purchase of a house is heavy with emotional components and whilst rational analytical reasoning has to be a part of it – the power of stirring the emotions can’t be beaten!

Thanks for the feedback Alistair. I am enjoying finally becoming part of the blogging world – a great medium to reach people and hopefully I will come up with some articles of interest!

Great advice Brenda, you have to be able to have an edge in this market. I am also in the Real Estate industry albeit recruitment. I am often going to open homes more for recruiting purposes these days, but on several occasions Ive dragged my husband along, to have a look at a property that I want to move into- even though we have a great house at the moment, for some reason the property has fired my imagination-its alwys been about the visual impact, luckily like yourself my husband holds me back- otherwise our bags would be packed all the time.
