REINZ 2008 Conference and AGM

Posted on: August 21st, 2008 | Filed in Real Estate Industry News

The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) National AGM and Conferences are to be held at Rotorua on 17th – 19 September 2008. The programme includes the Business Brokers Conference, the Commercial and Industrial Conference and the Residential Sales Conference.

“Real estate is a dynamic, ever changing industry and with various commentators predicting further transformation, our theme ‘The Future is Now’ is strikingly apt.

With the Real Estate Agents Bill 2007 working its way through the Parliamentary process at the time of writing, REINZ, a positive instigator of change, is currently lobbying for greater consumer protection and security.

But there is no time like the present to adapt your activities to achieve the competitive edge, building on your foundation for success and sharpening up your knowledge of the legal framework within which the industry operates – without waiting for the proposed legislative changes.”

Having attended previous conferences provided by REINZ and gained great benefit which I was then able to pass on to the consumer, I encourage all other REINZ members to attend.

Article Discussion

  1. Alistair Helm says:

    Sharon,

I commend you for highlighting this event. I have attended 2 such prior AGM’s and would have to say that for an industry that counts among its membership over 7,000 active real estate professionals turn out at such an event has been low.

With such great change afoot within the industry now would be the time for a diverse representation of the industry to attend and participate and thereby actively engage in the future of the organisation. This is naturally even more important this year with the impending new Act and the consequential change this will bring to the structure and role of the Institute.

  2. Sharon James says:

    Alistair,

I agree and if the number of submissions on the Bill (over 1,300) are any indication of the level of interest from those within the industry, I would expect a strong turn out at this year’s AGM.

  3. Peter Driscoll says:

Look forward to seeing you there Sharon

  4. Sharon James says:

Absolutely Peter – I’ll also be attending the REINZ Business Brokers Conference which has a very interesting line-up of speakers, plus the bonus for me this year is being able to spend time in my home town.
