Property prices in the Manawatu / Wanganui region fell again in June from $225,000 in May to $219,000 in June. As compared to a year ago prices in the region are down by just 1.2%.

Property sales in the region rose again in June on a seasonally adjusted basis by 7.8%. A total of 221 properties were sold in June. In the first half of 2010 a total of 1,347 property sales were reported, this was a 23% decline as compared to the same period in 2009.

Inventory of houses on the market fell again in June with a total of 47 weeks of equivalent sales on the market as compared to 52 in May. This June inventory of 47 weeks of equivalent sales continues to be above the long term average of 36 weeks. This would indicate that the market still swings in favour of buyers.

Property prices in the Manawatu / Wanganui region remained fairly stable in May at $225,000, down up $5,000 on the April median price. As compared to a year ago prices in the region are up by just 2.3%.

Property sales in the region rose in May with 219 sales as measured on a seasonally adjusted basis, up from 195 in April. However the first 5 months of 2010 though shows a significant 22% decline in sales as compared to the same period in 2009.

Inventory of houses on the market fell slightly in May from the peak of 56 weeks of equivalent sales in March through 54 weeks in April to 52 weeks in May. This May inventory of 52 weeks of equivalent sales continues to be above the long term average of 36 weeks. This would indicate that the market still swings in favour of buyers.
