Panmure: FREE Things to Do

There’s more than 50 hectares of park land around Panmure Basin to explore by bike or foot. Check out the model boat club and steam train enthusiasts, or watch the sailing club race days.  The Panmure Lagoon nudges the Tamaki Estuary and includes the Panmure Domain and Lagoon Leisure Centre. It’s a leisurely walk, great for prams. And for interest’s sake, apparently geologists have found a buried volcano inside Panmure Basin (which itself is the mouth of a volcano) so it looks like double trouble.

Most Sundays throughout summer and winter, the Panmure Lagoon Sailing Club hosts races for Optimists, Deltas and Lasers – they even can hire them out if you want to race but don’t have your own.

It seems to be all happening on Sundays as the steam train enthusiasts are out (next to the Panmure Lagoon) working their miniature steam trains between 1-4pm, depending on the weather. Kids and adults can ride, so don’t feel left out.
