$11,174.58 awarded to Allen Realty by Tenancy Tribunal
Securing suitable tenants is one of the most important aspects of residential property management. However, despite passing the initial rigorous reference and credit checks followed by effective rent monitoring and frequent inspections, a tenant can become unpredictable during a tenancy. A dispute may arise over rent arrears or damage to the rental property, and if this cannot be resolved directly with the tenant or with mediation, a landlord can then have the matter referred to the Tenancy Tribunal.
Allen Realty recently had a tenant who continually breached a mediated order and as a result an application was made to the Tenancy Tribunal for clean-up costs and exemplary damages of $15,816.86, of which $11,174.58 was awarded at the Tribunal hearing.
